Our Patron

St. Francis Xavier was born in Spain in 1506. While studying at the University of Paris, he met St. Ignatius of Loyola founder of the Jesuit Order whose special field of work is education. Influenced by St. Ignatius and his ideals, Francis left the Pursuit of intellectual achievements in favour of spreading the Gospel message of Jesus to distance lands. He was ordained a priest at Rome in 1537.

In 1541 Francis Xavier left Spain for the East. He toiled in India (mainly in Goa), South East Asia and Japan. While on his way from Goa to China, St. Francis died in 1552 on the Chinese Island of Sangchwan. Later on, his body was brought to Goa where it is still preserved intact, without the use of any chemical preservatives, on the historical church of Born Jesu.

The only desire St. Francis Xavier had, was to bring people close to God by following the Gospel message. His favourite saying was "DA MIHI ANIMA, CENTRE TOLLE" (Give me soul, take away the rest). This aim of coming closer to God, school still hold good for all those who pass through the portals of this institution dedicated to this great person. The pursuit of intellectual knowledge, truly, should bring one closer not take away to the source of all knowledge : GOD..
